Photographic Preservation and Care Traineeship 2025
Applications Are Now Closed
Many thanks to everyone who applied!
We are thrilled to offer an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the conservation, digitisation, and management of photographic collections. This 6-month, part-time, bursary-supported traineeship is designed to nurture the next generation of conservation professionals and address the critical shortage of expertise in preserving photographic heritage.
Our North London studio is led by photographic conservators Simon Fleury and Stephanie Jamieson, who bring over 30 years of combined experience, including time at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. The studio serves as a hub for innovation and practical learning in photographic conservation, collaborating with leading institutions such as the Bodleian Library, the Archive of Modern Conflict, the Museum of Youth Culture, and the Wilson Centre for Photography. Together, we provide a dynamic environment where traditional conservation techniques meet cutting-edge practices.
Photographic collections—from historic prints to modern digital works—are invaluable cultural assets requiring specialised care. However, there remains a significant gap in formal training for their preservation. This programme bridges that gap, offering trainees invaluable hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge by working directly with us and our partner institutions. Through this collaborative approach, participants will be well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to the preservation of photographic heritage for generations to come.
We encourage you to stay connected with us and to keep an eye out for future opportunities within our studio and in the field of photographic conservation.
